The weekend in pictures

I was so excited because Chris surprised me earlier this week and told me he was taking me to San Diego this weekend.  He's such a sweetheart isn't he?
So on Friday night after work we took off for our little weekend getaway.

When we pulled up to the Sheraton, the valet man asked for our last name and then looked at the guest list.  Then he told us that we were supposed to go around the corner and check in at the other tower.  So we did.  The other tower was a lot smaller, a little older, and a lot less fancy.  The lady at the front desk told us that our room was on the first floor and that in order to get there, we need to take the elevator down one level.  Yes down one level.  Our room was actually below ground.  Chris said he felt like the poor people in the Titanic movie.  This seems to happen quite a bit when we use the StarHot rate (employee discount through Chris' little sister who works for the Sheraton in Boston) but no complaints because we get an awesome awesome rate.

When we got out of the elevator I smelled dirty towels and realized that our room was next to the fitness gym.  And the ceilings on the way to room 188 were so low that Chris had to walk slowly because his head was already grazing the ceiling.

Fortunately, the actual room was nice (and the ceilings were higher inside.)  It was also very patriotic.

The next morning we went to the Gaslamp District to get more pancakes.

and then we walked around for hours looking at all the pretty houses and imagining what kinds of lives lived inside those multi-million dollar homes.  It's a favorite pastime of ours.

Afterwards, we went to Balboa Park and browsed the exhibits at the Natural History Museum.

When we got back to the hotel, Chris decided to ask the front desk if they had any available rooms in the nicer newer tower next door.   I thought for sure she'd tell us no.  But we lucked out ... there was an open room.  And she gave us a complimentary upgrade to a room with a view :)   So we went from having this view:

to this one:
That night we had dinner at the sports bar downstairs and watched the Giants lose to Texas :(

The next morning, we decided to stay and relax in the room until checkout.

Thanks for a fabulous weekend babe.  I had a great time.  I love you :)
